Note: Germination instructions are not on seed packets, follow the instructions below for starting seed.
Plant the leek seed outdoors as soon as ground can be worked. For earlier crop start seed indoors 5-7 weeks before last frost and set out after last frost. Plant seed in rows 10 inches apart, spacing seed 1 inch apart in the row. Cover leek seed with 1/4 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Keep soil moist until seeds start to grow.
When leek plants are 3 to 4 inches tall, thin or transplant 4 inches apart in the row.
