Vitex Seeds

Note: Germination instructions are not on seed packets, follow the instructions below for starting seed.

Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours, then plant inside in trays in good, well draining potting mix. Give warmth and bright light. Germination slow and irregular over several week period. Normal for seeds to float.

Vitex is best known for it's effects on hormones, but it is neither represses sexual passion, as the ancient Greeks who gave it the name agnus casus(chaste), believed, or a true aphrodisiac. It is a normalizing herb for the reproductive system, a regulator of hormone production. This normalizing and balancing action is what makes the herb valuable in treating irregular menses and infertility. For chronic problems, it is most effective when taken over a prolonged period of time.
Chaste berry is a deciduous shrub native to the Mediterranean region with lancelike leaves and fragrant flowers. The grey or purple berries have a long history of treating menstrual disorders.
